The most magical moment for an author must be when their story inspires kids to write and/or create art based on the characters and ideas in their book. That is what happened to me today at the Calgary Arts Academy!
I received over 40 submissions of their creative work and had the privilege of reading through these stories and poems. I was invited to read some of these stories to them today and we imagined many possible worlds together. What happened to the King? Where did the magic mirror come from? What was it like to live through the final battle with the dragon? While I was reading, the sun reflected a rainbow into the classroom and sparkled just like the rainbow stone in the story. As Max once said to me, "That was magic auntie Tania!" "Yes it was!" I will treasure the magic of today in my heart and can't wait to read all the stories to Max over the holidays. I hope your Christmas will be filled with magical moments too. Tania

Nameless Girl and the Lost Prince December 7 at 9:41 PM · It was an honour to see the grade 4/5 class from the Calgary Arts Academy perform 'The Hero's Inner Journey' tonight, a dance based on our book. I also loved the colourful costumes in 'The Exquisite Wild'. So fun to see all that creative energy on stage. Way to go! Looking to buy a copy of the book to give as a gift this Christmas? I will be available to answer questions and sign copies of the book during the craft time. We had a wonderful turn out at our book launch today and are so thankful to everyone who attended, listened to the story and stayed after to make crafts. We are especially thankful to Terri, owner of The Fairy Hut, who generously hosted our event. Her beautiful store was the perfect space for our party and Max was thrilled to be able to make a craft, write a letter to the fairies and meet some new kids too! We have been invited to return to run another event in the New Year so stay tuned if you missed the chance to attend today. The book is now on sale at The Fairy Hut and I encourage you to drop by to visit this magical place.
Max and I are so grateful to The Fairy Hut for offering to host our book launch party. There will be a reading of the story from 1-1:30pm and an optional $2.00 craft time following the reading. Max and I will be available to sign copies of our book and answer questions during the craft time. Hope to see you there!

A big thank-you to Jennifer Maki and the Maki brothers who loved our book and interviewed us as part of their phone booth project. Please check out the video and support their project which encourages us all to be every-day heroes! It was an enjoyable day yesterday spent at the Bodhi Tree holiday market. Thanks to those who dropped by to say hi and a big shout out goes to all those Grandmas (my biggest customers) who bought copies of the book and karate headbands as gifts for their grandkids. It was fun to see the studio (where I do my weekly yoga classes) transformed into this Christmas Faire. It was a good calming space to be, especially when the glass on one of my picture frames shattered. Luckily clean up went well (I used my deep breathing techniques to stay calm) because we were all barefoot in the studio. Yikes!
